For the fourth year in a row, Comal ISD's music program has received the Best Communities for Music Education designation. This designation is awarded to school districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

For the third year in a row, the JROTC at Pieper High School hosted a 9/11 Stair Climb to honor the first responders who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. More than 150 students, staff members and parents joined local first responders including firefighters to climb 2,071 stairs signifying the 110 flights of the World Trade Center's towers.

For the fifth year in row, Comal ISD's visual arts program has been named a District of Distinction by the Texas Art Education Association. This award recognizes the district and its educators for encouraging creativity, community participation and student growth.

Comal ISD is hosting its final summer job fair 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the district's Support Services Office, 1404 IH 35 North, New Braunfels.

The Smithson Valley High School golf program ended the 2022-2023 season with a silver medal for the boys team and an individual bronze medal for the girls. Both competed in the UIL 5A State tournament. These state honorees were recognized at the Aug. 24 Board of Trustees meeting for their achievements.

First-year teacher Sam Jordan is excited to begin her career as a second-grade teacher at Comal Creek Elementary School. She found out about Comal ISD during a recruitment fair at her college and felt like it was the right place for her.

The Comal ISD Bass Fishing Club ended its season once more as the Hill Country Region School District Champion with six anglers advancing to the state tournament. The club is part of the district's Intramural Sports program and is open to all high school students.

Three Comal ISD high school campuses hosted final signing days for seven student athletes who will play the sport of their choice at the collegiate level. Students from Canyon High, Canyon Lake High and Smithson Valley High will pursue their dreams to play baseball, run track, golf and cheer.

Comal ISD students, parents and community members have a new safety tool which they can use to report concerns and potential threats. Anonymous Alerts is an anonymous two-way communications system which empowers students to "See Something, Do Something."

As parents and students continue to prepare for back-to-school, Comal ISD has added two student immunization clinics on Friday, Aug. 18, at two locations within the district.
